I was able to test an updated pattern with NEW baby sizes and extra features this month from Petite Stitchery and it is so perfect for Spring and Summer!  The Baby Sunflower Crop, Skirt and Dress features several different options to customize your perfect lightweight Spring outfit. This pattern is intended for lightweight flowy woven fabrics such as rayon challis, chiffon or double gauze.  The size range goes from newborn up to 24 months and the pattern is also available in girls and womens sizing.

The Sunflower is a true wrap and includes options for a dress in knee or maxi length, a stand alone skirt in knee or maxi length or a crop top.  You can choose sleeveless, flounce sleeve or long bell sleeve and there are optional ruffles on the bodice and skirt.  For my daughter I combined an 18 month width with 24 month length according to her measurements and the fit is perfect on her.  I decided to sew the stand alone maxi skirt with ruffles when I found the perfect fabric as it screamed summer swim cover up to me!  I found this striped fabric at Hobby Lobby in their Spring Line and it is perfect for this pattern.  They actually had several lightweight flowy woven fabrics in the Spring line that you could pick up at a great price to sew up your own Sunflower!

I paired her maxi skirt with a Juliet leotard with shoulder flutters to play up the ruffles on the skirt.  I also decided to add a back flutter in the easiest pattern hack of all time.  I simply used the pattern piece for the shoulder flutter and added it to the back neckline.  I LOVE how extra girly and feminine it makes this simple leotard allowing the skirt to shine.  I used a cotton lycra from Purple Seamstress for the leotard, CL is my favorite fabric to use on this pattern!
