Pattern Review: Children’s Hoodie Dress by Rebecca Page

We love a comfy but stylish outfit for these cooler months in South Florida and the new Children’s Hoodie Dress pattern from Rebecca Page fills those requirements perfectly!

This pattern comes in a large size range from 12 months up to size 12 which means it will fit all of my kids without buying baby sizing as well! This is a raglan style pullover hoodie that has a loose fit.  There are options to add drawstrings in the hood and/or a kangaroo pocket.  The sleeves and hem are both cuffed instead of hemmed (so quick!).  There are two length options of mid-thigh or knee length and it has a subtle high low hem.  This is a very beginner friendly sewing pattern and is extremely quick and simple!

For my first one I sewed up an 11/12 length blended to the 7/8 width for my ten year old.   It was very simple to grade between sizes and the fit was spot on.  We used a French Terry that I have had for a couple of years in my stash from Knitpop.  We added the kangaroo pocket but opted out of the drawstring on the hood and did the mid-thigh length.  My daughter is getting to the age where she is a bit more particular about what she wears and immediately asked for several more of these as soon as she put this on.  We paired it with simple leggings and it’s the perfect comfy outfit.

For my littlest I modified the pattern to have a lined hood but otherwise followed the pattern.  I sewed this with all the same options as my oldest with the kangaroo pocket and mid-thigh length and also paired hers with leggings.  For this one I used a cute succulent print from the Doodles line at Joann Fabrics and paired with with a stretch faux sequin from my fabric stash.

This pattern is on sale for a short time so scoop it up here (and also comes in ladies sizes!) and sew up all the hoodies!  I’d love to see what you create:)
