Petite Stitchery Dax Wardrobe Builder

I was so excited to test out the new boys pattern for Petite Stitchery recently.  The Dax Wardrobe Builder is perfect for building up your son’s Fall wardrobe.  You can create an entire capsule wardrobe from this one pattern alone and it has a huge range of sizes from 2T all the way up to 20 so it will be used for years and years.

This pattern is so versatile offering tank, short or long sleeves for the top and pants or shorts length for the bottoms.  Tons of extras also including in seam pockets, kangaroo pocket, t shirt style pocket, hood, and faux drawstring.  Here’s a look at the line drawing showing the options to choose from.

Since it’s still sweltering hot here in South Florida I opted for short sleeves on the top and shorts.  I added in seam pockets on the shorts and both the kangaroo pocket and hood on the top.  If your son is like mine pockets and a hood make any outfit awesome.

My son fell in love with a cotton lycra super hero print at Hobby Lobby so we scooped up a yard when it went on clearance this summer.  I paired it with a french terry fleece knit I found at Fashion Fabrics Club.  I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect with the fleece in the title but it is divine.  Super soft and perfect for some lounge shorts!  My girls are now requesting some comfy clothes with it as well.

I can’t wait to sew up the pants when the weather cools off with some coordinating tops!  This pattern is on sale for a short time so scoop it up here and whip up a Fall capsule for your son!  I’d love to see what you create:)

Petite Stitchery Bonfire Basics Collection

I was so excited to test out the new Bonfire Basics Collection for Petite Stitchery last week.  The Bonfire Basics Collection  is so fun  for Fall.  I am just in love with all the options jam packed into ONE pattern!  You can make an entire mini capsule out of one pattern, that is a total win in my book!

This pattern is so versatile offering options for days!  Here are the options you can pick from:

*Three different romper styles with 2 different closure options (snaps or envelope back)

*Bodysuit

*Dress/Skirted bodysuit

*Separates:  tee (banded or hemmed), harem pants

*2 sleeve lengths:  short or banded long

*Optional pockets, patches, flutters and ruffles!

Since it’s still sweltering hot here in South Florida I opted for short sleeves on both of the rompers I sewed up.  I also did sleeve flutters and the ruffle romper on both because I am a sucker for those girly details.

For the first romper I used up some camo print I had in my stash from Girl Charlee and paired it with a cheery solid pink that I had from Purple Seamstress.  If you are looking for a great selection of cotton lycra solids Purple Seamstress is the place to shop!  I added a little glitter heat transfer vinyl as well at the last minute!  Don’t be intimidated by the snaps if you have never done them before.  They are seriously so easy and make diaper changes so convenient.  But, if you have a love/hate relationship with snaps the envelope romper option has NO snaps at all.  I made this romper in a straight 6 month size with a rolled hem on the ruffles and flutters; while it is a tiny bit big still it should fit great through the entire Fall season.

For my second romper I wanted something with a bit more of a Fall feel to it so I used this navy Jolene floral paired with a solid rust that I just swooned over.  They are both from Knitpop but I believe the floral is currently sold out.  They are my absolute favorite shop to buy fabric from:   they have lightning fast shipping, incredible customer service, have frequent sales, and a customer reward program.  I also did a straight 6 month size for this romper but used a traditional hem for my ruffles and flutters instead of the rolled hem I used on the camo romper.  This made the length on the pants a little shorter making it a perfect fit for right now.
